COVID_19 or coronavirus as we commonly know it has sent the whole world into panic, from China to the USA, Japan Australia, Europe , everywhere is in panic mode for two main reasons being the fact that a vaccine for it is still to be discovered and that people are not well informed about the virus because there are tons and tons of information and counter information circulating on social media. I will advice people to get correct information and current news about the virus from the world health organisation. emergencies/diseases/novel-coronavirus-2019/media-resources/news. Before talking of CORONAVIRUS: how to handle your gym and workout during coronavirus outbreak, I will like to share a few facts about the disease.

Corona virus symptoms

A. Means of transmission. While animals are the original source of the virus, it is now spreading from person to person (human-to-human transmission). There is not enough epidemiological information at this time to determine how easily and sustainably this virus spreads between people. The virus seems to be transmitted mainly via respiratory droplets that people sneeze, cough, or exhale.

B. Is there a treatment for it yet? There is no specific treatment for this disease, so healthcare providers treat the clinical symptoms (e.g. fever, difficulty breathing) of patients. Supportive care (e.g. fluid management, oxygen therapy, etc.) can be highly effective for patients with symptoms.

C. How to avoid getting infected. The virus enters your body via your eyes, nose and/or mouth, so it is important to avoid touching your face with unwashed hands. Washing of hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, or cleaning hands with alcohol-based solutions, gels or tissues is recommended in all settings. It is important to note that people who are infected but who do not (yet) have symptoms are not believed to be infectious.

How to handle your gym and workout during coronavirus outbreak.

As the disease continue to spread globally, people are bracing for economic, social and health impacts. Although the virus hasn’t yet prevented most people from going to the gym in most parts of the world, the fitness experts and enthusiasts are wary that it could happen as more cases are being reported. Typically the pillar of health and fitness, the gym in the age of coronavirus will seem to many like a real place of contagion.

Gym goers have begun to think twice about sharing equipment, locker rooms and towels although the virus does not survive well on highly sanitized surfaces, fitness professionals and enthusiasts are worried. Avoiding gym germs should not mean that you have to sacrifice your gains. There are lots of exercises and workouts you can do at home with minimal equipment to get full body workout. see also. smost-effective-fat-burning-home-exercises. You don’t need a gym to be fit except you are a hardcore weight lifter, an average person can get and stay fit in the confines of their home.

Get creative, turn household items into fitness tools

You don’t need anything but your body weight to exercise, but if you do want to add variety, a few common things around the house can help keep you busy until you can get back to the gym. A chair, for instance, can be used to support your squats. Stand over it and lower down until just before your rear touches the seat. You can also use that same chair to work your upper body with tricep-dips, placing your hands behind you on the chair, walking your feet out in front, and slowly bending your elbows to slower down and back up.

If you do want a little weight, a few gallon jugs of water can provide some resistance for squats, lunges, shoulder presses, and other movements, along with providing convenient post-workout hydration.  Even if you’re doing a home gym session, though, it’s important to practice good health and recover habits to avoid getting sick or worn out. Wash your hands regularly, and stay hydrated.

Re-cap

Health is wealth as it’s often said, we workout to be healthy and fit so we have to take precautionary measures avoiding over crowded places, washing our hands often with soap, clean and disinfect frequently touched objects, Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth. All of these measures should not prevent you from doing your home workouts and exercises. see also. home-exercises-to-build-solid-abs.
